
Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) has added another initiative to its efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation. A delegation consisting of academic and administrative staff from Mogadishu University visited BEUN as part of the Erasmus+ Program KA-171 Project.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hussein Isse, Dr. Lecturer Abdirahman Ismail Dhaqane, Adam Mohamed Mohamud, and Anab Mohiodin Siyad from Mogadishu University, who came to the university within the scope of the Erasmus+ Program KA-171 Project, held comprehensive meetings on education, research, and administrative processes in different faculties of the university.
During the five-day program, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hussein Isse gave lectures at the BEUN Faculty of Theology and met with academics and students. The meetings, which included an exchange of information about the academic work carried out within the faculty, paved the way for the development of joint research areas between the two universities. During his Erasmus+ teaching mobility at the Department of Civil Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Abdirahman Ismail Dhaqane conducted technical evaluations with the department's faculty members. In addition, ideas were exchanged on possible joint projects. Adam Mohamed Mohamud, who participated in training activities at the Department of Economics in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, had the opportunity to closely examine the academic structure of the department. Anab Mohiodin Siyad observed the university's internationalization processes, student and staff exchange mechanisms, and administrative practices on site as part of the training mobility program carried out at the BEUN Office of International Relations.
The visit program also included a comprehensive meeting with the BEUN Technology Transfer Office (TTO). The meeting, chaired by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Şenol Hakan Kutoğlu, was also attended by BEUN Secretary General Zehra Safi Öz and Western Black Sea Development Agency (BAKKA) Secretary General Mehmet Çetinkaya. During the meeting, the visiting academic and administrative staff gave a presentation on the Erasmus+ projects in which Mogadishu University is a partner and on new opportunities for cooperation and projects. Mutual assessments were made on research areas and project topics that could be carried out jointly between the two universities.
At the end of the meeting, certificates of participation were presented to the visiting academics, and important steps were taken to develop cooperation between the two universities in various fields. The parties agreed on undergraduate and graduate student exchanges, strengthening international student admission processes, implementing joint projects, and increasing academic mobility.
In addition, it was decided to sign a protocol on intern exchange in the fields of medicine and health sciences, thereby strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between the two universities. Furthermore, increasing academic mobility and developing joint research and educational activities were also among the planned initiatives.
