Erasmus+ Program
Grants carried out by the European Union Commission between 2007-2013 and provided in higher education in Lifelong Learning Program ending in 2014 will continue under the Erasmus + program between the years 2014-2020.
Erasmus + Programme aims to provide more effective tools that encourage cooperation between different sectors for new requirements in accordance with the targets of Europe 2020 Strategy in training, youth and sport areas.
Specifically for the higher education, the program aims to increase the quality in higher education, and to strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions with each other and the business world.
In the most general sense, the target audience of Erasmus + activities includes organizations and institutions which are a side of higher education and personnel and students of these institutions.
Applications may be made only by institutions and organizations to our Presidency or to the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency which is the relevant unit of EU Commission according to the project type. Individual applications are not accepted.
With the Erasmus + program which will be implemented in the years 2014-2020, the aim is to gain new skills to people , to strengthen their personal development and to increase employment opprtunities regardless of age and educational background.
Erasmus + Program covers the areas of education, training, youth and sport. The main reason of being given this name to the Erasmus+ Program is to benefit from the recognition of the previous Erasmus program which is identified strongly with education abroad and European cooperation and which is more known by the public.
What changes with Erasmus+ Programme
Erasmus + Program does not differ very much from the current program from the perspective of the main objectives and activities. However, some changes are predicted in order to increase the effectiveness of the existing program and to achieve a simple structure which can be applied more easily. Innovations from Erasmus + Program are as follows:
Comenius, Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Grundtvig programs, which were conducted within Lifelong Learning Programs, Youth Program and including 5 international cooperation programs (Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Alfa, Edulink and Cooperation Program with Industrialized Countries ) are gathered under the Erasmus + Program title. Partite structure and duplications expire bringing a much simpler application rules and procedures with one program.
A grant guarantee program is starting to be implemented to support the students who have completed their master degrees to gain the necessary skills in order that they can continue their education abroad and to work in knowledge-extensive jobs.
Cooperation with Industrialised Countries in Higher Education applied in the previous period (Bilateral Cooperation),continues its existence in the central projects of Erasmus + Program including the field of youth. However, the scope of the countries which can be collaborated expands. (Please refer to the Erasmus + Program Guide for detailed information about the countries which can be collaborated.)
Oppurtunities are provided to create large-scale partnerships (Information Partnership) aimed at increasing creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship between higher education institutions and businesses by introducing new teaching methods, and partnerships (Sectoral Skill Partnerships) between education and training institutions / organizations in order to increase employability through innovative vocational teaching-learning methods for the sectors.
Mobility and partnership opportunities are being significantly strengthened in the new era, and grant opportunities are being increased for especially higher education / vocational training students, teachers, trainers and youth workers.
